August 28, sermon by Pastor Ji

Hebrews 11: 13-16: 13 All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. 14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

Restart, and be brave!

What is it like to say good bye to someone you love? Not knowing when you will meet again. But knowing that a good bye is a good bye, you turned around from the person, when you turn back. No one will be there. Until next time. And you don’t know when is the next time.

So you have the best excuse to cry, cry out loud from your heart, cry like the tears can ease your pain. But memories remain, disturb you, day and night.

Psalms 66-75

Still repeating the song, ‘I sing praises to your name’!

Psalms 66 to 71 were written by David.

All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing the praises of your name.
Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!
You, God, know my folly; my guilt is not hidden from you.
But I pray to you, Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation.
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered.

Psalms 72 were written by Solomon. Why, the last verse says David?

Psalms 73 to 75 were written by Asaph.

No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves.  It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.

2 Thessalonians

3:5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. 5

3:15 Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer.15

1 Thessalonians

1:9 for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 1:9

2:4 On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.

Continue reading
