Psalms 66-75

Still repeating the song, ‘I sing praises to your name’!

Psalms 66 to 71 were written by David.

  • 66:4 全地的居民都必敬拜你，向你歌颂，歌颂你的名。All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing the praises of your name.
  • 66:20 神是应当称颂的，他没有拒绝我的祷告，也没有使他的慈爱离开我。Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!
  • 69:5 神啊！我的愚昧你是知道的，我的罪愆不能向你隐瞒。You, God, know my folly; my guilt is not hidden from you.
  • 69:13 但是，耶和华啊！ 在悦纳的时候，我向你祷告； 神啊！求你按着你丰盛的慈爱， 凭着你信实的拯救应允我。But I pray to you, Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation.
  • 71:23 我歌颂你的时候，我的嘴唇要欢呼； 我的灵魂，就是你所救赎的，也要欢呼。My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered.

Psalms 72 were written by Solomon. Why, the last verse says David? 为啥啊，明明最后一句话是说：耶西的儿子大卫的祷告完毕。

Psalms 73 to 75 were written by Asaph.

  • 75: 6-7 高升不是从东面来，不是从西面来， 也不是旷野来， 7 而是由 神来决定； 他使这人降卑，使那人升高。No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves.  It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.

为啥保罗他们要写帖撒罗尼迦 （还是觉得很绕口，哈哈）后书，哥林多书分前后是很合理的，就像哥林多后书上说的，保罗觉得上一封信写的太严肃了，想要再写一封来激励哥林多教会的使徒们的信心。但这个帖撒罗尼迦后书我就没搞懂。当然，我找了几个版本的答案，偏偏不告诉你。

3:5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. 5 愿主引导你们的心，使你们有 神的爱和基督的坚忍。

3:15 Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer.15 但不要把他看作仇敌，却要劝他好象劝弟兄一样。

帖撒罗尼迦前书 1 （中文念起来很绕口呢哈哈）

1:9 for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 1:9 他们都述说你们是怎样接待我们，而且怎样离弃偶像归向　神，要服事这位又真又活的　神，

神是不会喜悦你敬拜别的偶像的，这一点在圣经里讲述的很清楚。要 单单 爱你的神。的确，

2:4 On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts. 2:4 相反地， 神既然考验过我们，把福音委托给我们，我们就传讲，不像是讨人欢心的，而是讨那察验我们心思的 神的喜悦。

曾经有教会的姐妹提点我，和身边不属神的朋友接触，应该少提到圣经，少提到耶稣。我当时第一个反应是冒号脸，凭啥啊？我表达了我的不解之后，她提点我，万一我这样来去讲述圣经，讲述耶稣，让别人反感了呢？我双手一摆，表示，我不缺朋友。我不是故意在这里得利嘚瑟的瞎咋呼，我只是凭心而论我做不到。我不会有意的把所有话题都带到耶稣或者救恩上，但当我提到的时候，只是在我的大脑思维过程中，这个是一个必要的思维模块。我不想因为别人不想听，就故意避开。当然，也不能因为我自己执意要讲，就句句不离。 Continue reading →

The book of 2nd Chronicles is a Narrative History. The author appears to be the prophet Ezra who wrote it circa 430 B.C. It covers the events from the beginning from King Solomon’s reign in 970 B.C. up to the beginning of the Babylonian captivity in 586 B.C. The book of 1st Chronicles is a book of Narrative History, and Genealogies. The author appears to be the prophet Ezra who wrote it circa 430 B.C. It covers the events from 1000 to 960 B.C. Key personalities are King David and Solomon.

This book parallels some of 2nd Samuel, and therefore describes similar events. It was written after the exile, its purpose was to encourage the remnant that had come out of the Babylonian captivity. It begins with the ancestry of the nations past, but it is not chronological. Continue reading →

The book of 1st Kings is Narrative History and Prophecy. The author is anonymous; however, some suggest the prophet Jeremiah. It was written about 560-538 B.C. The key personalities are David, Solomon, Rehoboam, Jeroboam, Elijah, Ahab, and Jezebel. The purpose of 1st Kings is to contrast those who obey and disobey God throughout the ruling kings of Israel and Judah. The book describes the rule of Solomon as the last king of Israel and then the split of the kingdom after his death. It includes a great prayer to the Lord in chapter 8. Psalms 51-65

David wrote a lot of Psalms during his time of struggles and battles with Saul. Not many people can give praises to the Lord like David did when experience what David was experiencing. Some Psalms David wrote was cursing the enemy and crying for justice. David was being betrayed by his friends and soldiers which could endanger his life. He was scared and worried, but instead of being worried, he cried out to Lord.

Also, I found astonished when I read Psalms 51, which was written when the prophet Nathan  came to accuse David after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba. He admitted his sin to God and ask for forgiveness. If I were him, I would be to shame to even think of God. But David knew he is sinful, and most importantly, God did ask Nathan to confront David about his behavior. What if God did not talk to David though Nathan?
Psalm 51: 1-2 NIV “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.”
Psalm 51:17 NIV “My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.”
