Numbers

A lot of horrible descriptions of God’s punishments and rulings in the Bible become understandable when I began to learn Judges in my small group. Now, reading the Old Testament is no longer torturing me. For example, chapter 25 of the book of Numbers. Because “You shall not murder” is in the Ten Commandments, no one is expecting to read “a javelin in his hand …. and thrust both of them through.” But I learnt from the book of Judges, that our just God could not bear any sin. The javelin thrust through not only the bodies of these adulteresses, but also through the sin, the sinfulness of human’s heart.

A lovely song by Sally Turner, My Warrior.

I pray that when we start to know more about God’s just, we are more encouraged to refuse to fall into the sin. My dear brothers and sisters, never put yourself into temptation. Like that is said in the Bible.

Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
